Girls will be girls

We had a long weekend of fevers and not feeling well at our house, so we mostly stayed in and layed on the couch and watched movies.

It was a nice break from being so busy all the time, but next time I would prefer it without a sick girl! We took her to the dr Monday and she had a double ear infection and the dr was pretty sure she had strep but wasn't going to test her for it since the antibiotic will cover both anyway. Aspen was not even fussy most of the weekend, just super snuggly and sleepy. Again, I'll take the snuggles anytime but hate it when she's not feeling well and that is why she is snuggling. Anyway, I stayed home with her on Tuesday just to be sure she was better and she was luckily back to her little onery, cute self. We had a wonderful day together!

I was putting her clothes away in her room and she got out her tutu and brought it to me so I took that as a hint that she wanted to play dress up! :) My sweet friend Kathleen made this tutu for her and she loves it!

Roxy stayed outside to take care of her business, clearly Aspen was ready to play with her inside. She was standing at the door holding Roxy's toy waiting for her to come in - so cute.

Now, anytime we say "oh no" this is Aspen's response or she'll just randomly do it and wait for you to say "oh no" and laugh at her. Cracks me up - she really loves to do it when her hands are a mess from eating and get food all over in her hair.

After playing dress up, I thought it would be a good time for Aspen to get her toes painted for the first time to complete our "girls day" at home. She looks so adorable with those little pink toes! I was surprised that she sat still and didn't grab at them!

Looking forward to many more girls days with her (minus the sickness part)!!

Growing Up

A few weekends ago, we decided it was time to go ahead and switch out the baby seat for a big girl car seat.

The last car ride in her little seat!

In her big girl seat for the first time! She looks so little in there. We plan on keeping her backwards for a little while longer until her legs get cramped and then we'll turn her around.

My baby girl is growing up so fast!!

Family Pictures

We had some family pictures taken a couple weekends ago - and we are so pleased with them! I asked her to focus more on the family as a whole than any individual pictures (just b/c I can take individuals myself - it's the family/unposed that I can't get myself!). We had Brandi Tanksley take them on KU's campus on a Saturday morning. She did a WONDERFUL job and we will most definitely be going back to her in the future!!  She was great with Aspen, and also Roxy (I loved that she took the time to take some of only Roxy w/o me asking her - some people don't understand that she's my baby too and always will be - luckily she did!)
Here are some of our favorites!

This is one of my absolute favs. Really just the story of our life right now with the focus mostly being on Aspen - that and I love that you can see how much her daddy loves her in his face.

So excited for our season tickets this year!!

I love that you can see her little arm rolls in this pic - little things I never want to forget!

Best Posed Family Pic- LOVE it!
I love that they are both looking at the camera and "smiling"
Sorry for the pic overload but it's so hard to pick favorites when I like so many of them! :)

Aspen - 11 months/ 4th of July

With the 4th of July came my baby girl's 11 month bday! We had our family over for the 4th of July since our city fireworks show is shot off from the middle school which is in our back yard. Here is what Aspen is up to at 11 months and on her first July 4!

Aspen has a big personality and an even sweeter smile. There is no describing the amount of joy she brings to my heart!
Weight: 21 lbs
Height: 28.5 inches
Size 3 diapers, Size 12 month clothes (sometimes 18 or even 24), Size 2 shoes

Aspen eats 3 -6 oz bottles/day. She eats oatmeal around lunchtime, has a snack in the afternoon and is eating more and more regular food at dinner. She has 3 teeth now, 2 on the bottom and 1 on top. Her smile is so sweet. She is still taking 2 naps/day and sleeping at night from about 8:45-6 am.

with cousin Rae (You can tell both most get their eyes from their momma's since they have the same eyes!)

 Snuggling with daddy

Aspen was clapping after the blackcats went off...so silly!
She loves to be outside. She will play with her little car or just run around outside forever if I would let her! We just discovered this last weekend that Aspen is a little water bug. She’s never been quite sure what to think of the baby pool or her own pool at home, but I took her in the deeper water this weekend and she loved it. When I had her on her tummy she would kick her feet and just laugh (she was even trying to stick her face in the water) and when I put her on her back, she just loved it!
 Here comes T.R.O.U.B.L.E!!!!
She’s a smiley baby. She loves to smile and talk and point at things.  It’s so much fun to tell her something and see her go do it b/c she understands what we’re saying a lot of the time now. Listening doesn’t always happen, but she’s working on it. No words yet, just momma, dada and ba-ba. She knows what her bear, the ball, books, her car, etc are-when you ask her where they are, she will go get them. She is into everything, drawers and cabinets are her favorite!
She loves to play with footballs, basketballs, bouncy balls, all sorts. I think we’re going to have a little athlete on our hands! She’s also just started noticing her baby. She’ll give her baby kisses and try to feed her a bottle – it’s the cutest thing ever! She loves to look at books but doesn’t sit still long enough to read them. She’s also started LOVING Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It’s on in the mornings when I’m chasing Aspen around getting ready to go to work. She will sit and watch it for a little bit, get bored with it and go get into something else play with something else and then when they start singing again she will dance with them and just smiles so big at the tv. We have fun dancing to the hot dog song at the end of the show every morning.

We got lucky and Aspen liked watching the fireworks and wasn't scared at all! She actually fell asleep during the big show and slept through all the noise outside once I took her in and laid her in bed!
