Aspen - 18 months

How is this even possible! Baby girl is growing fast!

Weighs about 26 lbs (75%) and is 31 inches long (50%).

Wearing size 18 months-24 months. She has some 2T clothes that she can wear but I usually roll the sleeves or pant legs. She wears a size 4 or 5 shoe.

We just went up to a Size 5 diaper this week. Her size 4's were probably still ok but it seems when her diapers get snug we have more accidents so we just went ahead and went up.

Sleeping from about 8-6 at night and then she'll take a good long 2 to 2 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon. She's got 3 new teeth coming in at once (and she's been working on them for a good month now) so it's hit and miss on sleeping all the way through the night. Right now, she still has only 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. I wish those little guys would just pop through!

She eats most anything that we eat now - or at least we serve her what we eat. Whether she eats it or not totally depends on the day. She's become a picky eater somehow and she'll pick out the things that she likes and eat them. For example, whenever we have tacos or fajitas she will take the tortilla and pick it up so the meat falls out and eat the tortilla and the cheese. Little stinker! She loves yogurt, graham crackers, grapes, peanut butter and other than that it's a daily change of likes and dislikes. She loves to dip things in sauce (everything is "chup" ketchup) like ranch, ketchup or salsa. She moved from her highchair to a booster at the regular table with us this month.

She loves to try to put her own pants/shirts on. I usually try to give her as many choices as I can like picking out two pairs of jammies and letting her choose which to wear, or two pairs of shoes, etc. I read somewhere that offering choices can help them feel more confident in their independence and it seems to work well for us. She loves to "help" me do anything. She surprises me everyday with the bits and pieces she can put together and how things make sense to her. She is at a really fun age!

We've been working on sitting on the potty. Sometimes she'll go and sometimes she won't - I'm not pushing it for right now because I want it to be something she wants to do. She tells us now when she is wet and stinky a lot of the time. I usually try to sit her on it in between diaper changes right now just to see what she does and help her get a little more comfortable.
She still loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  She just recently started dancing around the room and saying "hot dog" when the hot dog song is on in the morning. The first morning she did it I was laughing so hard. She is such a goof and loves to sit in a laundry basket with a pillow behind her and a blanket on her lap, with her milk and breakfast. It's hilarious - she just treats it like her little recliner. She is also really into anything Elmo (or Melmo as she would say). We just went to Sesame Street Live recently and she had a great time!

She does amazing at daycare! She does great with the other kids. They do lots of learning time, puzzles, reading, singing and dancing, free play time and group play. Our daycare provider keeps us up to date with her "schedule" during the day and what she ate, how she slept, etc. which I love. She does art projects sometimes and I just love bringing those home! When I go pick her up she runs to me and says "momma!" with her arms open for a hug. Lately she's been wanting to give all the kids hugs before we leave and then she'll say "bye bye" and all the kids will say "bye Aspen!" it's adorable and I love it!
She loves playing babies, blocks, puzzles, shapes and dress-up. She's really into animal noises and acting them out.  She loves to color, build and play "tah-doh" (play-doh). She is so smart and talks all the time now. Luckily for mommy and daddy she is a little "jay-hawk" (said with the cutest twang). She loves Jay anytime she sees him, and we're working on the Rock Chalk! She just started to say little prayers before bed and before dinner. Her prayer before bed usually goes something along the lines of "dear todd, (what are you thankful for Aspen?) elmo!, roxy, daddy, momma (and other randoms like the other night it was "my milk") and then I'll say In Jesus Name, she'll say "Name....AAAA-men!"

She is a handful to chase around but wouldn't have it any other way - her personality is really coming out! I wish I had half as much energy as she does! I love finishing everyday but making her laugh and getting snuggles and hugs. I always go to bed either laughing at something funny she did that day or getting sentimental at how much I am blessed to have her as my daughter (and sometimes I'm so tired I completely just pass out!).

Sesame Street Live!

Saturday we had a family day out! We took Aspen to see Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music! She LOVES Mel-mo (Elmo) so we knew she would absolutely love it.

They have a "play-zone" set up an hour before the show with all the character stoops from Sesame Street and they come and sing a few songs with some of the characters. We got lucky and were standing close by when they came out one time and we got to be right up front. This was after Aspen high-fived Cookie Monster! I was so surprised she did it b/c normally she is scared of any characters in costume up close. She enjoyed that but I think if we ever go back we will avoid the Play-Zone b/c it was just too many people!

Getting ready to go find our seats!
Aspen did amazing at sitting still (a few graham crackers may have helped that too) and she was so excited to see Elmo!
No joke, this is how she was during the whole show, minus when she was saying "yay" and clapping after every song or pointing out Elmo to me. Could not take her eyes off of it! We had to buy her own ticket for her so we basically had an extra seat since she sat on my lap the whole time. She didn't weigh enough to hold the seat down and it kept folding up on her before the show started. We got really lucky and had great seats along with no one sitting right in front of her!
 Intermission!
Poor girl fought her sleep so hard and ended up falling asleep during the last song of the show. Little stinker!

Here's one of the videos I caught of one of the cute songs they did.

After the show Joe took us out to lunch at one of his favorite spots to go to lunch with co-workers (He works downtown). It was A-MAZING and now I know why he's always talking about it!
