Really? I do not know how this is possible. Aspen turned 2 1/2 on Feb 4. She is really starting to gain some independence in her play lately. She now likes to sit and look at her books (in her room by herself) or just this morning she wanted to stay in her bed and watch Cinderella while she ate her breakfast instead of coming in our room with us like usual. In some ways it makes me happy and proud to see her gaining her independence but like any mommy it makes me a little sad too.
So at 2 1/2, she usually sleeps through the night (I say usually lightly- we've gone back and forth through stages, but for the most part she sleeps from 8:30-6). She's an early riser- some weekdays she is up at 5:30 and doesn't go back to sleep, weekends since the house is still quiet or we take her in our bed with us she'll sleep until 6 or 6:30. She still goes to sleep with me laying on the couch at night and then daddy carries her to bed. I'm not hurrying on getting her to go to sleep in her own bed- we have plenty of years for that. I like the snuggles and the bedtime talks we have before she falls asleep.
She's getting better with her pickiness. A few trips to her bed at dinner time later and now she'll at least try what I give her. A few weeks ago, I kid you not, she chewed on a bite of carrot for literally 20 minutes before she finally gave in and swallowed it. But for the most part she at least eats what we do in some variation. She's got a major sweet tooth and loves pepsi whenever I give her a little. She would eat fruit snacks all day every day if we would let her.
She has started working on keeping her colors in the lines when she colors and recognizing letters and their sounds. She knows how to spell her name, her address and city she lives in. Her vocabulary amazes me. Her little imagination is starting to really come out lately also. We play kitchen, tea parties, "pretend", build forts, babies, dress-up, and princess castle lots. She loves to do puzzles, and matching games. She also just started gymnastics recently and absolutely loves it.
She is definitely FULL of energy and keeps us going non stop! We're so proud of the little girl she is becoming and looking forward to watching her continue to grow. I love her so much- I can't even put it into words how much she brings into my life. So that is a little of what she's up to at 2 1/2.
