A year in review...

2010...what a year!

The year started out a little rough, as I was 10 weeks pregnant and not feeling so hot most of the time. However, after our experience fall of 2009, we were ecstatic to be pregnant and to have heard/seen this little one's heartbeat for the first time right before Christmas! :)

We battled MANY snowfalls throughout last winter. This was our first Winter being home-owners and we definitely learned the need for a good snow shovel!
This was so much fun!! 4 Wheeling at my dads in the snow!

In February we joined our friends, Melissa and Nolan, on a trip to Keystone, CO. I was sad to not get to ski but I shopped and walked around the Keystone village and rested a lot while they were out skiing and we all spent the evenings together.

Joe celebrated his 26th birthday the day after we had our sonogram at 19 weeks.  We were so grateful to see that our BABY GIRL was looking healthy and growing well. She was moving all around in there and even had the hiccups while we were watching.

We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on April 21!

I was 28 Weeks Pregnant on our anniversary!

Early summer was full of baby showers, putting together Aspen's room, classes at the hospital, and just preparing to become parents the best we knew how. 2010 was a HOT summer!! We had our families to our house for the 4th of July celebration for the second year in a row. Joe started working with his project group at work and really enjoys what he is doing! This project will take him through March of 2011.

Then we got to July 28...Aspen's due date and my last day of work before going on maternity leave. We waited and waited....ahhh that week about drove me crazy. I cleaned the house at least 2 times a day, went on many walks, ate spicy foods, read about pressure points that induce labor and had Joe try them...needless to say we found out all the old wives tales are just that! However, I did enjoy getting an extra back/foot rub or two out of the deal! ;) We went in Tuesday Aug 3 to start the induction process for our baby girl to finally get to come meet us! We labored all night...and all day....and then the shocker came when it was decided I would have a cesarean.  However she got here, Aspen was born....and she was perfect. 9lbs 5.5 oz of pure perfection. The most unreal, exciting, overwhelming, AMAZING experience of my life.
Happy Birthday my angel baby.

I was blessed to have 3 wonderful months at home learning how to be a mommy and spending time with my baby girl.

October 21...the day I had to go back to work and Aspen started daycare. Oh so tough. I always knew it would be hard, but I never knew how hard. I never knew it was possible to miss someone so much. I cried about every 5 minutes. Aspen did too....she decided she didn't want to drink her bottles at daycare (I think she was just overwhelmed by the change). After a rough first couple weeks, we were both doing better (although I still struggle every day with missing her terribly).

November brought my 27th birthday, Aspen's baptism and Aspen's first Thanksgiving.
At the KU football game - this was Aspen's first KU game as well
(she was sleeping most of the time!)

Words can't describe how special this day was. Such a proud mommy and daddy!

Thanksgiving 2010 - trying to get a good family pic!

December was a busy month preparing for Christmas and watching Aspen grow. She is so much fun, and learns something new everyday! (More to come on that with her 5 month post next week!) Aspen's first Christmas was so much fun, and she got LOTS of new toys and LOVE from family.
We are SO excited about what 2011 will bring!
