Wow, I haven't blogged in a week...oops. Things have been so crazy that it's kind of fell to the bottom of my to-do list. Monday we had our appt with the Ear Nose and Throat Dr. Aspen really enjoyed their play area, (and I actually let her get down and play with them since it wasn't a regular doctors office with sick germs all over the toys).
We first met with the nurse and then a PA, and then our ENT. We had already prepared ourselves for the possibility of what we knew they were going to say...
Aspen is going to have to get tubes in her ears.
I'm not thrilled that she's going to have to go through surgery but I am hoping that this will take care of all her ear infections and hoping to be done being on antibiotics every few weeks. I think I'm more concerned with them having to take her back awake and me not being able to be with her at that time than anything else. I just have this awful vision of her screaming and kicking and having a major melt down b/c I'm not going with her.
After we met with the ENT we had to wait to get her hearing test done. She didn't mind, more time to read books. I love how she will go pick out a book, bring it to me and turn around and sit down right on my lap like "come on momma, read to me - I'm ready!"
She passed both of her hearing screens and was so good for the lady who did the test. She actually sat still and when each ear was done she clapped and smiled when we said "yay Aspen!" After we left the ENT we had to go to the lab at the hospital to get her little toe pricked to check her hemoglobin levels. She did not enjoy that one at all. Afterwards in the car she would calm down and then point at her toe and stick her lip out and start crying again. Don't worry, we had ice cream later that night and it made it all better! :)
Other than that we've spent the first part of this week playing outside in the evenings (don't even ask me what happened to the pic above) and playing dance/gymnastics. In the pic above, Aspen was showing me her Minnie Mouse on her shirt - she was so excited in the store when I gave her this shirt!
Aspen brought me her little play ballet shoes the other day with her headband so I dug out an old leotard and let her wear it. She now knows how to put her head down on the floor to start her roll and will finish with a big "ta-da!" I'll have to post one of our videos soon. She loves learning how to roll and go upside down (and mommy loves teaching her) so I might have a future gymnast on my hands!
